Senior Reward Specialist

About the job.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Reward Specialist to join the HR Reward and Performance centre of expertise (CoE) at National Highways.

The Senior Reward Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of National Highways' reward arrangements, from working with external stakeholders to writing Remuneration Committee papers and completing market benchmarking.

• Contribute to the design and development of the reward strategy, ensuring that policy and practice operate within our agreed Remuneration Framework and is aligned to National Highways' Road Investment and People strategies.

• Draft Remuneration Committee papers on behalf of the Reward and Performance CoE.
\n
• Manage and oversee the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the overall National Highways reward structure, encompassing job evaluation and sizing, grading structures and job families, and benchmarking.

• Liaise with external stakeholders ensuring progression of projects, completing business cases and promptly providing additional information when required to assist recommendations.
\n
• Work with the wider Reward and Performance team to provide a pragmatic, customer focused, creative and commercially grounded reward service; supporting and coaching colleagues, and sharing expertise as required.

The role will be worked on a hybrid basis, with a combination of office and remote working. You will be required to attend the Birmingham office at least 2 days per week.

About you.

• Proven experience in all areas of rewards and recognition including pay, benefits, pension, market benchmarking, job evaluation, and executive compensation.
\n
• Understanding of industry best practice, market trends, and developments in reward management.
\n
• Excellent paper-writing skills, including being able to articulate complexity in a clear, concise way.
\n
• Sound consulting, facilitation, and advisory skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with leadership and senior management.
\n
• A bachelor's degree, preferably in HR, business administration, or a related field or commensurate professional experience (Desirable).

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
