Litigation Associate: Financial Recovery & Disputes

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

The role of a Litigation Associate involves representing clients across multiple judicial and quasi-judicial forums including DRT, DRAT, NCLT, NCLAT, High Court, and District Courts. The position requires active involvement in litigation matters related to debt recovery, insolvency and bankruptcy, company law disputes, and other civil litigation cases. You will be expected to draft and review legal pleadings such as petitions, applications, replies, affidavits, and written submissions. In addition, you will conduct in-depth legal research, prepare case briefs, and provide well-reasoned legal opinions to support ongoing cases. Coordination with clients, counsels, court clerks, and tribunal staff will be essential to ensure timely filings and compliance. You will also support the legal team during hearings, mediations, and arbitration proceedings.

Key Skills & Competencies

To excel in this role, a strong understanding of key legislations such as the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), SARFAESI Act, RDDBFI Act, Companies Act, and the Civil Procedure Code is crucial. The position demands exceptional drafting skills to prepare accurate and persuasive pleadings. You must be adept at legal research and possess the ability to analyze complex issues efficiently. Teamwork is an essential element of this role, as you will be collaborating with colleagues in a fast-paced environment. Clear and effective communication is important for both internal coordination and client interactions. Attention to detail, strong time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously are vital for success.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should hold an LL.B. degree from a recognized university and be enrolled with the Bar Council, making them eligible to practice in the courts of Maharashtra. Candidates should have between two to five years of relevant litigation experience, preferably with a focus on financial recovery, company law disputes, and insolvency matters. Prior exposure to representing clients before tribunals and higher courts will be an advantage. A thorough knowledge of legal procedures, along with the ability to strategize and execute litigation plans effectively, is expected. Those with strong client-handling skills and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision will find this position highly rewarding.
