Independent Domestic Violence Advisor\n\nDerbyshire County\n\nFixed Term ((Until Late March 2027))\n\nFull-Time\n\nOur client has an exciting role working as part of their established Community IDVA Team, offering proactive support to individuals experiencing domestic abuse, assessed as high risk.\n\nThey are looking for an experienced domestic abuse professional to join their Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) team. Their IDVAs have key roles within their community, as they provide short to medium term support to high-risk victim/survivors of domestic abuse, empowering survivors to understand and overcome their current situation, allowing them to move forward and regain control of their lives.\n\nWhat you’ll do:\n\n * Manage your case load, making sure each victim/survivor referred receives the appropriate service that fits their individual needs.\n\n * Complete risk assessments, safety planning, referrals and MARAC processes using evidence-based tools.\n\n * Work within a multi-agency framework including MARAC, the police, health professionals, child protection, housing practitioners and other voluntary and statutory specialists.\n\n * Provide practical, emotional and advocacy support, including safety planning and guidance on civil and criminal justice options.\n\n * Keep victims/survivors at the heart of everything you do by keeping them informed, connecting them to relevant services, and delivering flexible, accessible support in safe environments.\n\nWho you are:\n\n * A good level of education including GCSE English and maths, or equivalent.\n\n * Evidence of self-development or formal learning and development in sector skills.\n\n * Demonstrable experience directly supporting adults who have experienced domestic abuse or who have other complex needs.\n\n * A formal qualification, such as IDVA, or the willingness to complete this.\n\n * A good understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on those affected by it and the legal and practical remedies available to them.\n\n * DBS check and police vetted.\n\nApply now!
